Biomethane, hydrogen and natural gas must be checked for their composition and purity. APIX Analytics, a Grenoble company, builds gas chromatographs with chip-sized components so that analysis can be done in the field, in seconds to minutes.
The European Innovation Council granted €2,500,000 towards a €3.74 million project to develop GreenPix, a miniaturised analyser for "all renewable gases". By its end in March 2025 GreenPix 200 was CE-marked and ordered by early adopters, and APIX's news page reports the first GreenPix sale in October 2024, its 1,000th chromatograph sold and a new funding round in January 2025.

Where APIX Stands Today
APIX's news page shows a busy 2025: a fundraising round announced with Bpifrance in January, renewed ATEX certification for South Korea, entry to Bpifrance's Neo industrial start-up accelerator, a gold innovation medal for its Polish distributor Integrotech's biomethane analyser built on APIX technology, and a best technical presentation award at the Analyzer Technology Conference in Texas. In 2026 it exhibited at gas analysis, biogas and energy fairs in Paris, Lyon, Tokyo and Birmingham. The French register data show filed accounts up to 2026 but publish figures only for 2022: revenue of €3.41 million and a net loss of €2.46 million.
The Technology: A Laboratory on Chips
A gas chromatograph separates a gas into its components by passing it through a column and measuring what comes out when. APIX makes the columns and detectors with semiconductor techniques, which shrinks the instrument and speeds up analysis. The CORDIS report cites full C1 to C5 hydrocarbon chromatograms in 22 to 25 seconds, "stable sub-ppm detection over > 600 analyses" and a total cost of ownership lower "by a factor of five to ten".

GREENPIX promised the "first miniaturized universal gas analyzer for all renewable gases", including hydrogen purity for fuel cells. CORDIS reports a pre-series of 30 analytical channels with more than 90% yield, assembly cut from more than six hours to about 15 minutes, CE marking for GreenPix 200, production on demand, and field pilots in mud-logging and odorant monitoring. It points to about 3,000 European renewable gas sites as a market and "1 000+ sites now in discussion with partners such as CNPC". It gives no sales figures.

What Has Happened Since the Award
The Money
The award was blended finance, and the EIC Fund did invest. In November 2022 APIX raised €5 million, its fourth round, from Bpifrance's Ecotechnologies fund, Demeter, Supernova Invest, Kreaxi, ALIAD, BNP Paribas Développement and, as a new investor, the EIC Fund. On 30 January 2025 it raised €2.4 million from the same historical investors, including the EIC Fund, to launch the new GreenPix generation. Bpifrance put its 2024 revenue at about €4 million, with more than 1,000 instruments installed and 30 employees. Its 2022 accounts showed a loss of €2.46 million on €3.41 million of revenue.
What cannot be checked
How many GreenPix units have been sold, APIX's profit since 2022 and the EIC Fund's share of the two rounds are not public.
Why Europe Should Care
APIX's own report counts about 3,000 European renewable gas sites as potential users of on-site gas analysis. A Grenoble-made analyser that is cheaper to own serves that goal, if it sells at scale.

The Verdict
A product on the market, finances out of view
GREENPIX turned a lab technology into a certified product with industrial assembly and paying early customers. APIX already had €3.4 million of revenue in 2022, and lost €2.5 million that year. Whether GreenPix changes that cannot be judged until more recent accounts are public.
APIX Analytics has not been asked for comment for this article. It is based entirely on company statements, EU project data and the French company register, linked throughout.
